A systematic evaluation of left ventricular (LV) models for estimating LV volumes in children using cardiac cine (MRI)

چکیده
Results Commonly used biplane[1] and triplane[1] ellipsoid models have significant mean percentage error (at least 9%) for EDV/ESV/EF (Table 1), and triplane model was more reproducible than bi-plane model. A linear-weighted model of biplane and parabola substantially diminishes percentage error for EDV, ESV and EF to 0.3±6.0%, 0.5±10.7% and 0.0±6.4% (aEDV = 0.4, bEDV=0.7; aESV = 0.9, bESV=0.2) respectively.

Normal Value of Left Ventricular End-Systolic Elastance in Infants and Children
Background: In certain conditions, there is a need for a specific and improved measure of cardiac performance. Routine methods for assessing left ventricular (LV) function are based on image-analysis or right heart monitoring which do not allow evaluation of ventriculo-arterial interaction. Chen et al presented a noninvasive method allowing measurement of end-systolic pressure–volume relation ...
متن کاملEchocardiographic Evaluation of left Ventricular Function and Geometry in Pediatric Patients with Kidney Transplantation
Extended abstract Echocardiographic Evaluation of Left Ventricular Function and Geometry in Pediatric Patients with Kidney Transplantation Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is an important, leading cause of mortality and morbidity in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) as well as in renal transplant recipients. Cardiovascular complications become more important in children because of the i...
متن کاملAnalysis of right ventricular function in healthy mice and a murine model of heart failure by in vivo MRI.
Because of its complex geometry, assessment of right ventricular (RV) function is more difficult than it is for the left ventricle (LV). Because gene-targeted mouse models of cardiomyopathy may involve remodeling of the right heart, the purpose of this study was to develop high-resolution functional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for in vivo quantification of RV volumes and global function in...
متن کاملEvaluation of left ventricular volumes and ejection fraction using fast steady-state cine MR imaging: comparison with left ventricular angiography.
Previous studies demonstrated that magnetic resonance (MR) imaging consistently underestimated angiographic measurements of left ventricular (LV) volumes. The purpose of this study was to determine whether MR imaging with steady-state free precession acquisition (SSFP) can provide improved accuracy and reproducibility in measuring cardiac function in comparison with fast spoiled gradient echo c...
متن کاملGeometrical models for cardiac MRI in rodents: comparison of quantification of left ventricular volumes and function by various geometrical models with a full-volume MRI data set in rodents.
MRI has been proven to be an accurate method for noninvasive assessment of cardiac function. One of the current limitations of cardiac MRI is that it is time consuming. Therefore, various geometrical models are used, which can reduce scan and postprocessing time. It is unclear how appropriate their use is in rodents. Left ventricular (LV) volumes and ejection fraction (EF) were quantified based...
